After using the standard 5.11 "Patrol Ready" bag for nearly 15 years, it was finally worn far beyond any usefulness. After seeing a colleague using this "Wingman" patrol bag, I decided that the extra cost would be worth the risk if the design worked as good as it looked. This bag does not disappoint! The bi-fold lid with MOLLE webbing and headrest strap is the crown jewel of this design, and it alone makes the extra expense well worth it. With the headrest strap in place, the lid doesn't sag, and the MOLLE webbing and velcro gives great accessibility to add your gear.It does have a sleeve in the back for a passenger side seatbelt to secure it, but so far I've foregone that extra step. It was a bit of a pain to thread the seatbelt through there, and my current assignment has me loading and unloading the bag daily. When I go back to the regular unit where I'm in the same ride every day, the small extra hassle in threading the seatbelt won't be as big of an issue as it'll just be left strapped in for days or weeks at a time. But for loading and unloading it daily, I'll skip the extra step and just use the headrest strap; it's plenty for all but the most insane driving. With most other patrol patrol bags, the main main drawback is they usually have one huge main compartment like a duffel, but that results in constantly having to dig to the bottom of the bag to find whatever you're after. The Wingman solves this problem; the main compartment is a little smaller (just right for carrying a posse box clipboard, binoculars, spotlight, and one or two other large/bulky items), but the fold out MOLLE panels more than make up for the reduced main compartment with their additional and easily accessible storage. No more digging to the bottom every time you need something! With this Wingman bag, it's all spread out so you can not only find the right item, but you can get to it easily. The flip out front panel also has MOLLE webbing and velcro, and the organizer pockets in the "wall" between the main compartment and the flip out pocket are plentiful and well thought out. About the only thing I would have done differently is maybe add more stiffening to this "wall" to help the bag keep it's shape. It's fine now, but I can tell that it's going to sag as the bag breaks in. I read another review where the owner added a stiffener panel out of another bag to reinforce this area... Perhaps I'll cannibalize parts of my old bag for this very purpose. The MOLLE webbing on the outside provides a handy place to put those emergency items like IFAKs, tourniquets, and pouches with space blankets and CPR masks so you never have to search for them in an emergency. It sucks having to rummage around for an IFAK and headlamp when life is on the line... Now all that gear is strapped to the outside right where you can see it on the passenger side. Nice.About the only other design criticism I would mention is that the main handle is sewn directly to the lid, rather than being handles that go down the sides and around the bottom like most other patrol bags. This lid-handle design will put some pretty massive stress on the lid seams and zipper... *IF* you fail to buckle the lid buckles. Thankfully, 5.11 saw this problem coming and to their credit they addressed it by adding reinforcement straps with buckles to take the strain off the lid zippers and seams. That said, it is clear that fastening the buckles before lifting it by the carry handle is going to be critical to the longevity of this bag. I would strongly recommend not only that, but also judicious use of the shoulder strap to further reduce the strain, as this thing can be heavy when loaded up for a typical patrol shift. So far I am incredibly happy with my purchase, and in just one week of using it, I've already had several compliments on it... Something that never happened even once in 15 years with my old "generic" patrol bag. It's well thought out, and people notice that smart design! And if it lasts even a fraction of as long as my last 5.11 bag lasted, I'll more than get my money's worth.5 out of 5 stars overall, would highly recommend. It is exactly what it claims to be. It is large enough and holds every piece of my Duty Gear. I do not like the plastic strap attachments and hooks, but as long as you are mindful it should be fine. I will update should my opinion change after use.Good storage capacity and organization. Sits well on the front passenger seat but take note its meant for a LHD passenger seat. The bag is sturdy and spacious. I like the headrest strap and the front pouch thats lays out flat, which allows your bag to be open at all times for quick access to your equipment. The main compartment allows me to add my paper organizer, clipboards and a few other items like evidence bags. The molle is a great touch to allow me to add my medkit, extra magazine pouches and other misc pouches.I have a few gripes with this bag. The pouches in the front could be a little larger to allow for more items. If you add pouches to the interior of the top cover molle, you cannot zip it shut and will need to use the overlap straps to keep it shut when you carry the bag, but that is to be expected. The bag could use stitched loops on the top to act as secure guides for the overlap straps to stay in place when you are carrying the bag.I love 5.11 tactical products. They are a little pricey sometimes but this was the best price I found online for this bag. It is still $140 plus shipping on their website. Great product and this is the best place to get it on a buget.Don't buy directly from the 5.11 Tactical Website they are negligent and don't care about customers. Let Amazon and retailers take their cut. Ordered 2 items that have been waiting a month, and they are not in stock and still have not been sent to me. They are more interested in ignoring any correspondence to make numbers than figuring out a solution to get the time you purchased to you. Considering how much of their product I have purchased in the past 2 years this is insulting. The 5.11 Tactical Wingman Patrol Bag overall the bag itself I am very happy with. Well constructed and good use of space, and not too many options, but enough to make it flexible enough for a variety of needs. Been very happy with how it stores in the car, at home, and off at events.Best patrol duty bag I’ve ever had. Won’t buy anything else and will recommend to others.Great for patrol car or any car you need a passenger seat storage in. It is so wonderful and easy to pack up and move.Keep this on my front seat in my car. I gave everything to hand. I had to buy a drinks holder and a few Molle type pouches too but I can get easy access to anything I. Red in a day.I have been a tactical 5.11 wearer for the past couple of years. I have a 12 hour backpack and a large messenger bag.The reason for purchasing the Wingman passenger seat bag, is because my Messenger bag is bit too small for what my needs are.I am a frequent traveller and a full-time university Law Enforcement Studies Student.I carry a 14” MacBook Pro, with a 11” iPad Air which are in the main compartment, and I need extra space for electronics and medical supplies because I am also a type 1 diabetic.I really love this bag.La marca no defrauda, para mis necesidades es perfecta, entra todo lo necesario para el trabajo diario y si necesitas mas espacio, con el sistema molle le puedes añadir mas si quieres. This bag is great! It's my first patrol bag and holds up great so far! Very well made! The main compartment is a little small if you have a lot of stuff, but other then that, I highly recommend! My old duty bag was better. There should be a large pocket on the outside or ticket book holder. Would also like to see more pouches on the outside of the bag. Could also you Velcro on the top flab to put name or badge number etc. I would not recommend for police use.
