Similar to the Hibben Rambo-series in size, I consider this to be a better-made knife. Having several Hibbens for "show," this one I purchased for field use. Mine came with the two-tone (gen 2? says "custom design" with Gill's signature on the blade) light & dark grey handle (what I wanted) vs. the box's reddish handle color. I agree with others that the micarta handle is very slightly "pitted" (not gloss smooth) - might be a sign of lower quality to some, but for me this provides a better grip. The two guards are a bit sharp at the edges and will require some rounding work. The full tang knife and heavy sheath are very nice for the price - noting the stainless steel is not super-premium (this isn't a $200 knife), it is still shaving-sharp from the box and this should still make a lifetime fun user bowie knife. It fits my hand well, is well balanced, and the mid-handle metal and pins do not stick-up and are not sharp-edged like cheaper knives. The 4mm-thick blade does not rattle or vibrate when rapped on the side and the thickness is retained to within an inch of the tip. Knife is 13-inches overall with 7-inch sharp edge on blade. There are 15-to-20 layers of Micarta on each side of the handle. Light enough to carry and control for fine work, heavy enough for some light chopping or batoning. Great bowie deal and nice chunk of steel for the price. I considered minus 1 star for some minor quality issues that will take some work, but the overall item and price warrants a excellent rating. Add a paracord lanyard to the knife handle and sheath leg strap and you are set for adventure.
